Industry experts discussed IoT and Industry 4.0 in the ISA Pune section knowledge sharing session

The International Society of Automation (ISA) Pune section organized knowledge sharing sessions on April 28, to mark the international automation professional day. Leading automation practitioners from the end user and OEM industry, consultants, system integrators, and automation suppliers met in Pune to celebrate the day. Over 200 attendees attended the event.

ISA was founded on April 28, 1945. Hence ISA Pune section organized the seminar to celebrate their founders’ legacies and their long-lasting contributions to the industry.

The program started with an introduction to the ISA Pune section and its activities. Mr Ajoy Lall, Head of Operations, Tata Motors, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, delivered the keynote address. Mr Lall gave insights into his company’s success in implementing the Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and its benefits. Mr Kuber Jagdale, COO, Sekhmet Pharma Ventures, spoke on the user perspective in implementing automation in a large API Life Science plant.

In another information session, Mr Raju Bagade, Head (E&I), Thermax Global C&H – Heating SBU, provided an original equipment manufacturer’s insight into equipping the products with Industry 4.0 ready solutions.
Mr Balwant Godbole, who set up the ISA India section in the 1970s was honoured at the event. At the age of 93 years, Mr Godbole is probably the senior-most ISA member in the world. Other life members who were honoured are Mr Vishwas Kale, Mr Karam Rehani, Mr Ramani Iyer, and Mr Narayan Bedarkar.

The event concluded with honours and awards for Outstanding ISA Pune section member to Mr Gurmeet S Anand of Hemkund Automation, Outstanding Student section award to VIT College of Technology, and Outstanding Product or Solution Award to Mr Vishal Pansare of Logicon Technosolutions. The ISA Pune board also honoured Mr H S Pansare, President of ISA Pune section, and Founder and MD of Logicon Technosolutions for leading the section brilliantly.
